Half-day recipe-based classes

For people who have completed either of the foundation classes or who have previous experience with Drupal, we offer classes that teach how to achieve specific features using contributed Drupal modules and 3rd party libraries.

Recipe-based classes are available in two formats:

Instructor-led training

Our face-to-face training ensures a thorough learning experience. Instructors are able to respond to questions, sometimes even before students think to ask them and can follow the class places no one could anticipate ahead of time. The table below outlines the usual structure, but individual courses may vary.

Duration (2.5 hours total)
Format Activity
0:15 Whole Group Introduction
0:45 Follow along or watch and build later Step-by-step recipe demonstration
0:05 In pairs Discuss how to modify the recpie to meet your needs
0:10 Go-around Hear how others plan to modify the recipe.

Online Courses

Online courses begin with an introductory session which demonstrates the recipe and a question and answer period. Students receive their choice of basic or pre-configured sandboxes for one week. During the week, they can post questions in the issue queue. These will be addressed as possible throughout the week, and all issues posted will be addressed during the second session.

Duration
1 hour Session 1 Recipe demonstration and verification of sandbox connectivity
1 week Sandbox Practice Independent practice with questions posted to the recipe issue queue
1 hour Session 2 Review of questions, optional presentation of student activites

Written curriculum

Online documentation is critical for looking up that forgotten step. We create HTML documents that can be printed to PDF, providing written directions that can be printed on-demand and are always up to date.

Judicious use of screen shots

We include screen shots primarily to increase the effectiveness of print documentation.
